Hey mate you have to apply for a mining permit from Crown Minerals. This link takes you to their website. http://www.nzpam.govt.nz.../minerals-permits#mining
This link shows you what's already claimed. http://data.nzpam.govt.n...bmaps?commodity=minerals
It will cost you at least 3200 for the mining permit then more for a resources consent and potentially access agreements with landowners. It is worth doing though.
And now....On sandy beaches and muddy soil, rings and coins await my coil!

Check out these posts, members discuss getting a claim, they go over all the issues that someone can have with land access, problematic boundary property owners, and dealing with DOC, and difficult terrain.

Also you need to becareful of claim jumpers(poachers) once you lodge a claim, if you are only going to be in there on weekends, perhaps set up a nightvision camera. Once some of these unscrupulous people spot a new claim they go straight in to clear it out when no one is looking.
Another good way to monitor it would be to let some people you trust pan and/or detect on your claim, that way they could help watch over your claim - though you need to be careful about breaking the rules of your permit.

If you know we're you want to claim and its not in some locked up doc land I can do all the paperwork And organisation for a small fee, as long as you have the means and proof to be able to pay the fees of $511 a year and carry out the work programme it would be sweet to get granted
