First recovery for the year.
Went to a popular city Beach to scratch around for fresh drops from the NewYears festivities last night.
Found that the storm has eroded the sand at the city end of the beach. Got a worthwhile amount of spendies making it worth braving the rain and wind.
Was just putting the detector back in the car when a guy pulled up and asked me if I could help find his auntys silver earing the she had lost at the beach last week.
Grabbing my gear we headed down to where they had been sitting on the seawall. As he pointed out the exact spot there it was..
Easy find itvwas sunbaking in full view.

Gave up on the beaches and headed back to the 3d Spot.
With the ground well wetted i got 2 silvers in perfect condition and a bit of silver jewelry that had got the lawnmower chop.

Just returned from the south island. Managed to fit in a little bit of time detecting first was 3hrs one evening in Christchurch.
Headed to the reserve bank of Big Park but chickened out at the imaculate grass and vast numbers of people.
Went to Little Park with rougher grass and bushy areas that were more discrete and didn't get much a few old decimals and a lot of tinfoil. The ctx 3030 was indicating some nice targets at 9 inches plus but wasn't prepared to dig that deep in the dry rock hard soil.
Anyway a local came up for a chat and suggested another park so I headed there. Much better a few spendies and 1c2c and a 1950 ozzie penny and a 2000 Macedonian 1 denare coin.
Strangest thing I found is a hot rock that I kept because its so heavy once I got it home and hit it with the rock hammer its silver inside. Hitting the chip repeatedly made silver powder Any ideas?

I'd say the silver "rock" is either galena or nickel ore if you were near the container wharves.
We often get chunks of it in the corners of empty containers.

If you really wanna know what it is, a pinch of the crushed powder is all I need for the XRF.

We then hit the road to Queenstown and I hit a few playgrounds along the way got a few spendies out of the wood chip.
Went to a public fossicking area and got a good signal after digging a bloody dip hole in a running stream I claimed my prize a 1oz lead sinker.
Did a few beaches for coins and public fossicking areas for nuggets and got a few spendies and foreign coins and a probily old 9ct gold ring. Its got not a hallmark that I can find but it has 9ct ring fe/co numbers and tone a gold test kit will soon reveal the truth.

2 silvers and a Australian Army Shoulder title. I thought the Army badge was a broken washer till I saw the letters it had similar fe/co numbers to a 1c.

Had morning off so shot out to the 3d Spot. Got 3 silvers.
one was my first .925 aussie silver - a lovely slightly worn 1941 Melbourne mint 3d.
And the others a 1944 nz 6d and a 1940 nz 3d along with the usual pennys and halfpennys.
The other unusual coin was a very worn queen Elizabeth 2 half penny about the size of a nz 1 cent, I thought it was a token at first till I spotted the 1/2 and the Crown.

Despite several hunts I have been going through a severe lack of worthwhile finds., all my favorite spots are dry rock hard soil now so have been skulking in trees looking for new spots nothing of note except for these token s from B&S laundromat.
Went to a popular waitemata beach for this mornings 0615 low tide to try my new Andre scoop and gotthese 2 junk earrings. BBeautiful morning to be on the beach.

Down the line for work and found a nice picnic and swimming area after work. Bit trashy but enough finds to make it worth another visit tomorrow. Also found a USA copper 1c coin but must have dropped it or turfed it in the bin with the trash.

A late finish at the work site and a 1 hour commute meant that there was no time to goto yesterday's spot.
Went instead to the reserve near where I am staying and got
A junk ring probably copper.
A junk bracelet or watch strap link
4 and a 1/2 cents

Happy hunting
